Protection and Rehabilitation District

Continuing its mission as a lake district “…to protect and improve the quality of lakes and their watersheds,” The Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes District (WCOLD) has purchased a system to record rain fall in the area of the Chain and the temperature, water height and flow volume down the Crystal River.

The goal is to establish a baseline of data on water flow into and out of the Chain O’ Lakes and monitor the results for potential long-term changes. These data will be complimentary to phosphorous, chlorophyll, and water-clarity data currently being collected.

The system is wireless and monitors in real time, with sensors that ultimately connect to the internet. The system is currently in a testing phase. Once that has been completed, the system will be deployed and data will be available for viewing on the WCOLD website.
